We can test carry out an LEV test on your systems to ensure they are fit for the purpose and are operating effectively.

These tests are carried out in accordance with the principles given in the HSE guidance document HS (G) 54 "Maintenance, examination and testing of local exhaust ventilation" (1998), to comply with Reg. 9 of the COSHH Regulations.

The following types of testing are carried out:

  • Initial system inspection
  • Annual examination and performance testing
  • Full reporting including recommendations for maintenance or upgrading

What the Report includes:

  • Name & address of employer responsible for the plant.

  • Identification and location of the LEV plant process and hazardous substance concerned.

  • Date of last thorough examination & test. Conditions at time of test.

  • Intended operating performance for controlling the hazardous substance.
Whether the plant now still achieves that performance. If not, the repairs required to achieve that performance.

  • Methods used to make judgements i.e. visual, pressure measurements, air flow measurements, dust lamp, air sampling, filter integrity tests.

  • Date of examination and test.

  • Name designation and employer of person carrying out examination and test.

  • Signature of person carrying out the test.

  • Details of the repairs carried out.

  • Examples of the detail required:-

  • Enclosures/hoods (maximum number to be in use at any one time), location or position, static pressure behind each hood or extraction point, face velocity.

  • Ducting and dimensions transport velocity, volume flow.
Filter collector and specification, volume flow, static pressure at inlet, outlet and across filter.

  • Fan and specification, volume flow, static pressure at inlet, direction of rotation.

  • Systems which return exhaust air to the work place and filter efficiency, concentration of contaminant in returned air.

  • The effectiveness of repairs to be proved by a re-test.
