When a fire burnt out the dust extraction system filter at Watford specialist case manufacturer Trafalgar Cases, the company faced costly interruption to its 24-hour-per-day production process.

The company manufactures a wide range of specialist and tailored packing cases. But production was halted by the fire, which put the extraction system out of action.

WWC came to the companies rescue with the loan of mobile bagging units which were delivered and in operation within 24 hours of the fire taking place.

Then, to suit the companies production cycle, a permanent replacement system was installed comprising a four-module chain filter, a 33" 60HP main fan and 21" 20HP transfer fan, and silenced ducting to the intake. The new filter was linked to an existing silo and wood burning system and the complete installation is now protected by equipment for detecting and eliminating sparks.

Woodwaste Control's Reg Gareppo said: "Dust extraction is a vital part of modern production because of the health and safety considerations. We work quickly to ensure that our customers are inconvenienced for as short a time as possible by anything that interrupts the operation of their woodwaste extraction system."

John Crawley of Trafalgar Cases said: "Thanks to the immediate response of Reg and Lou Gareppo and their staff production continued without interruption. This, combined with the flexibility of our own staff, meant that none of our customers were aware of a problem.

"These actions combined to avert what could have been a major disruption to our business."
